It's amazing but true...

(learn the same lessons that I have - with this special FREE offer! Read on!)

My name is Sascha Williams. I’m the owner of one of the most successful martial arts schools in California. “Fresno Kenpo Karate" here in Fresno, as well as Williams Kenpo Karate in Madera and in Los Banos.
For over 20 years , I’ve been helping people to change their lives with building tools found only in karate. No other sport can match them. In the next few pages, I’m going to tell you how you can sample all of this, and more. Free of Charge!!

Watch yourself increase in confidence, energy and spirit. Stand and be dazzled as you become unstoppable in you quest for...

Greater personal achievement. Unshakable self respect. Increased strength and fitness, in both body and mind.

But be very careful! It is very easy to end up in a Karate or Martial Arts Studio (especially in Fresno or Clovis) that will not teach you practical self defense or that will encourage you to become "a jerk", walking around trying to prove yourself!

If you want to proof how tough you are, and you are interested in intimidating others, then we are NOT the right school for you. We are friendly, we build strong and open relationships with all our students, and we teach self control and self restraint.

But don't be fooled!

We will also teach you one of the most modern, scientific, and practical martial arts that you can find in the Fresno/Clovis area.

It is so easy to end up in a martial arts studio that will not teach you a lot of practical techniques. With Kenpo Karate, you don't have to worry about that. This beautiful, graceful, and explosive art will put you above almost any other Karate practitioner.

Learn principles such as Back Up Mass, Economy of Motion, Point of Origin, Body Alignment,

Learn to protect yourself in a variety of ways. Let's face it, not every self defense situation is the same. If you truly want to have a complete knowledge of self defense, you need to learn strikes (that would be kicks, punches, knee strikes, elbows, etc), but you also need to learn how to get out of holds, chokes, locks, etc.

It just doesn't matter if you are a great boxer, or a great kicker, if you do not know how to defend yourself in other, more unusual situations.

What if you go to the ground? Would your techniques still work? With Kenpo Karate they would! You will learn anything from long range, medium range to short range defense (don't forget that long range defense requires you to use a lot more footwork and more kicks and hand strikes. On the other hand, short range situations have a lot more variables. Once you and your opponent get into any close quarter battle, it's not just about striking anymore. Now you need to know things like buckles, sweeps, take-downs, joint locks, body manipulation, holds and locks, chokes, weapons, throws, and so much more.

If you want to learn complete self defense (especially if you want to be able to defend yourself against more than one attacker) you need a complete and practical system like Kenpo Karate.

Kenpo Karate is a Hard/Soft Style combination

This is very, very important.

Basically, Hard Style means that you are matching your opponent's force with your own, attempting to out-power him or her.

Soft Style means that you are not using force against force, but instead use your opponent's force against him. This is much more practical when your opponent is larger and/or stronger than you!

Personally, I studied several different martial arts when I was younger. I took five years of Kung Fu, I did a few more basic arts, like Tae Kwon Do, and Mixed Martial Arts. But let me tell you...

When I got into Kenpo Karate, I dropped everything else! This art was so much more complete, so much more fascinating. Even the whole thought process of Kenpo Karate is a life changing experience!

But beware: Not all Kenpo Schools teach the same, and some of them don't even really teach Kenpo, even though they say they do!

What do you look for? Make sure the Kenpo you take is "Ed Parker's Kenpo Karate", also referred to as "American Kenpo Karate".

Why is this important? Because Ed Parker's Kenpo Karate is what many other schools try to copy!

Ed Parker's Kenpo (named after it's founder, Edmund Kealoah Parker, who taught Elvis Presley, in addition to many, many other famous actors and martial artists) is the one art that changed everything!

Ed Parker was the man behind Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris (Bruce Lee worked closely with Mr. Parker before he became famous, and Mr. Parker helped Bruce Lee land his first movie role in the "Green Hornet". Chuck Norris became known after he competed at Ed Parker's International tournament.

Note: Mr. Sascha Williams (owner of Fresno Kenpo Karate), who holds an 8th degree black belt, is the only man in the entire Fresno/Clovis area who studied Karate directly under Ed Parker, the founder and grandmaster of American Kenpo.

Mr. Williams is also an author and two time hall of fame inductee, and a world wide sought after instructor. We are lucky to have him right here in Fresno!

Why are there so many adults in Kenpo Karate, when other arts (like Tae Kwon Do, for example) have mainly only children?

First of all, Kenpo is one of the most logical martial arts around. It's much easier to practice properly, when you understand the proper concepts and principles that make the move work.

Even with the most basic technique, there are a great number of principles that can help you maximize all of your efforts. For example, if all you were doing was a simple block, you might use principles such as:

  1. Proper bone alignment
  2. Proper back up mass and body rotation
  3. Proper timing (to have your body and arm work in harmony)
  4. Point of Origin (do not unnecessarily retract or chamber)
  5. Relaxation
  6. Settling (dropping of the center of gravity of your body)
  7. Margin for error (rather than pinpointing)
  8. Sequential Flow of Action
  9. And more...

Of course, this is probably very confusing until you see it demonstrated and have it explained to you. But that's exactly what will be done during the classes.

As a matter of fact, that is probably one of the biggest differences between a lot of the so called "traditional" martial arts (like Japanese Karate, for example) and Kenpo Karate. You will have a chance to ask questions and have them answered. It is our philosophy that this is the only way that you can truly understand what is going on.

Here are a few examples of important principles which you will learn in Kenpo Karate and ONLY in Kenpo Karate!

The three base components of Speed

There are three "types of speed" (for lack of a better word).

  • Perceptual Speed
  • Mental Speed
  • Physical Speed

Perceptual Speed means this: How fast can you identify the attack? In other words, if your opponent attempts to kick you, can you see it coming right when he first starts shifting his weight from one leg to the other, or would you need to see the kick develop further, maybe with your opponent now lifting up his knee? An experienced martial artist will see the kick much sooner, and will react the moment the opponent starts his attack, rather than needing to see the attack (in this case the kick) halfway completed (which is what happens to most beginners)

Mental Speed means this: Regardless of how fast you are physically (physical speed) and regardless of how soon you can identify your opponent's attack (perceptual speed), you still need to do one other thing, and you need to do it very fast: You need to make a very rapid choice about WHAT your response will be. Are you going to block? Intercept? Move out of the way? Redirect? Obviously, you need to make sure that you choose the correct counter for any particular situation. Making that choice, and making it fast is what is referred to as Mental Speed in American Kenpo Karate.

Physical Speed means this: Once you have accomplished the above two aspects (Identifying the opponent's attack and choosing the correct counter), it's now time to execute your counter as fast as possible. This is where physical conditioning will help you dramatically. This is where principles and concepts such as Economy of Motion, Point of Origin, Relaxation, and Sequential Flow of Action will aid you tremendously.

The three types of Body Momentum

  • Rotational Force
  • Marriage of Gravity
  • Forward Momentum

Regardless of whether we are talking about Karate or Sports, there are, and always will be, three different means of employing Body Momentum.

Body Momentum basically means that the body is "helping out" when you execute a strike. Just like a truck speeding towards another vehicle and ramming into it, it is the entire weight of the truck that causes the damage to the other vehicle. It might just be the bumper of the truck that actually makes contact, but it is nevertheless the weight of the entire truck that causes the damage.

Similarly, we can use our own bodies for "Body Momentum". This is accomplished by moving your body in a specific way at the moment of impact (this, of course, requires proper timing)

Since we live in a three dimensional world, there are three methods of using Body Momentum. In simple terms, you can 1. Move towards your target (like a football player who is about to tackle his opponent), 2. Rotate in front of your opponent (Most Boxers use this method), or 3. Drop in place (imagine striking downward and dropping your weight at the same time.)

Even when practicing, Kenpo students have methods and modes of practice that are just simply unequalled by any other martial art or Karate style.

The Three Phase Concept

One of the greatest problems with most traditional martial arts studios is that they do not train to develop subconscious reactions. Just because you know how to execute a technique in a Non-stress environment such as the Karate school, does not mean that you will be able to use the same movement in a true crisis or life threatening situation.

It is vital that students practice their reactions in three distinctly different "phases".

The three different phases of practicing your reactions (techniques) are:

  1. Ideal Phase
  2. "What-If" Phase
  3. Formulations Phase

What this means is this: As a beginner you need to practice your technique in one specific, pre designed form. You don't change this technique, you don't concern yourself at this stage with any unexpected circumstances. This is like a "model" of an actual situation. By having this model as a reference, you can now measure your effectiveness, your speed, your power, your accuracy and many other important aspects of your reaction. This is the Ideal Phase.

Fact is that most Martial Arts schools will practice ONLY in the Ideal Phase. They act as though the technique will always work the same way, nothing should ever be changed, and all you have to do is copy the technique and you will be fine. But that's not how it goes in the real world.

That is why we have the "What-If" Phase. This means that you now start to change the technique by imagining your opponent introducing variables!

What If my opponent bends over? What if my opponent quickly moves back? What if my opponent fakes with one strike and then changes to another? What if my opponent is so tough, the strike(s) I am using don't seem to have an effect? What if my opponent wears certain clothing that could protect him against certain strikes?

In class you will learn how to develop a "back up plan". This would be nothing more than an altered and adjusted version of your technique that takes into consideration something that changed (like in the examples above)...

This is truly a life changing experience!

But don't take my word for it...

“Kenpo has given me a burning desire to learn again.
My goal, I want to be good from the inside out,
not just from the outside in.
Kenpo teaches a wide variety of techniques against
grabs, kicks, pushes and punches. They are designed
to cancel the attacks, anticipate misses and probable
counters while providing the student with a knowledge
of natural weapons and their angles of execution.”

 Edwdard Almaguer, 43

“What the art has shown me is...a humility.
It teaches you self control. It also teaches me to properly
channel my stress into something more productive and also
allows me to be more of a role model for fellow officers.
They ask me all of a sudden they see a personality change
and I tell them the truth, it’s I’m involved in the martial arts
and they see the way I get along with people out in the street
and also with other co-workers.”
